Quest for Jackie Chan! Urban Action Film Forum Video Upload

With a little over 24 hours till I head to Hong Kong, I've finally had the time to tweak up my intern Thuy Nguyen video edit of the Quest for Jackie Chan! Urban Action Film launch back in August this year.

To come to think about it, I've been through quite a bit over the past 12 months since the inception of such a bizzare pet project. Still, there's much more to come, in particularly meeting the legend himself - Jackie Chan.

Finger crossed!

In the meantime, click on the image link to watch the event!

WARREN COULTON: Thanks for your FUNDBREAK support of "Quest for Jackie Chan!"

Thank you so much Warren Coulton, ACT - Australia! for your support of the FUNDBREAK Quest for Jackie Chan!. Warren has been an ongoing supporter and advisor for my project in the initial stages when my idea was just formulating 8 months ago. He's also been featured in the trailer and garner loads of laughs on his cameo intro of Clear Vision Studios.

But for those who want to get to know his intiative Clear Vision Studios, click here.
His space is cutting edge and is a focal point for many action-pack activities such as stunts, martial arts and filmmaking initiatives.

Here's my graphics dedication to him!

WARREN COULTON is the managing director of Clear Vision Films – an action film producer and stunt training company having trained with Australian legendary stuntsperson Richard Norton, Brad Allen, Grant Page and Benny – The Jet.
Clear Vision Films is a Canberra based studio and has achieved many levels of success including awards and international sales of our first action feature film "Yakka Oy", and great reviews for the action short "The Transit".

May 15, 2010 — Finally, My home-made edits of the Quest for Jackie Chan Trailer is available for public view.

It has screened at Kinos #36 Film event in Sydney and also at the 2010 Colourfest Film Festival this year. I've had great responses and excitement from people who are Jackie Chan Fans across Australia who also want to know what's in store in August this year.

Here's the story:
Being Asian and living in Australia can be hard if you have dreams of becoming something beyond an doctor, lawyer, solicitor (no that there is anything wrong with that).
I want to break beyond the stereotypes and take a risk, a chance and go on an adventure of a lifetime. To do things I've never dreamt of doing (meeting Jackie Chan).

So from 1-21 August my ultimate goal is to travel non-stop across the major cities of Australia (Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart & Melbourne) delivering free workshops on for young people from culturally diverse backgrounds on how to run their creative projects and transform ideas into realities as well meeting up, collecting Jackie Chan mail and recording video messages to Jackie Chan.

I've decided to leave work and delve in my little piggy bank to get this baby project going.

First stop is Canberra and that will be a roadtrip with 6 young persons from Western Sydney who have martial arts background and together we will be choreographing a comedic fight sequence in dedication to Jackie Chan.
<
Hopefully, once I finish my trip around Australia, I will be home for a month and edit the video footage in the lead up to mid November, where I will take a risk and fly over to Kong Kong in the hope of personally giving him these messages on behalf of AUSTRALIA.

Ambitious? Yes. Nerve wrecking? Totally. I'm not related to Jackie Chan and he doesn't know who I am (I might look like some crazy Asian from downunder - I hope not) and Jackie Chan is super busy. So that is the dilemma. How does a nobody like me meet Jackie Chan?

Only time will tell.

Please join me on my "Quest".

Lip Dub Jackie Chan Acapella!

Sydney, NSW, Australia - 13th of February, 2010 – After considerable thought I (Maria Tran) decided to round up my merry friendship crew to attempt our first weekend experimental project as a part of Quest for Jackie!

This week we attempted what we found out to be a “Lip dub” – this is an online popularity of lip synching and audio dubbing to make a music video.

Prior to this and as my research into the social phenomena Chan man, I bumped into this song made by a group called InsideOut from their album “Experience” online.

So myself and a small fun loving crew of eight had fun collaborating on this ridiculous project.

“It definitely pushed my comfort zone. A new experience that can be slightly outrageous beyond what I’m use to. It has inspired me to try something different.” says Marie Setiawan.

“I’ve always wanted to be in a music video. Haven’t as yet so I think it’s wiser to just home make it.” says Maria.

Tips for Lip dubbing:
Spontaneity: It doesn’t look too planned, like someone has pulled the idea out of the blue and their mates together to do it.
authenticity: Everything about the clips appears real and down to earth
participation: It not about the lip syncing but more so about the dynamics of the people making the clip
fun: people in the film are having heaps of fun

Lib dubbing: was coined by the founder of Vimeo by Jakob Lodwick, 2006, in a video entitled Lip Dubbing: Endless Dream.

In the video's description, he wrote, "I walked around with a song playing in my headphones, and recorded myself singing. When I got home I opened it in iMovie and added an MP3 of the actual song, and synchronized it with my video. Is there a name for this? If not, I suggest 'lip dubbing'."
